The Golden Eaglets fell to a 3-2 defeat against Burkina Faso in their first Group B game at the zonal U-17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Niger on Monday, reports Completesportsnigeria. com.
Olusegun Olakunle scored both goals for Manu Garba’s charges who came back from two goals down to levelled scores at 2-2 in the first half.The Eaglets dominated possession in the game but were let down by their poor defending.
Burkina Faso netted the winning goal 12 minutes from time from a solo effort by their top striker.
The Eaglets will play their next game on Thursday against Cote d’Ivoire.
Only the overall winners of the zonal qualifiers will advance to the tournament proper in Tanzania next year.
